By creating an account, submitting a project, rating a project, commenting, following a creator, following a project, greenlighting a project, or clicking “I Would Back,” you agree to this Sign-Up Policy, Community Terms, and Creator Content Rules.
This policy is intended to protect creators, readers, and the Comic Launch Lab community.
Comic Launch Lab is not a publisher, agent, lawyer, campaign manager, payment processor, or guarantor of campaign success.
1. Account Types
Comic Launch Lab may allow users to create different types of accounts, including Reader accounts, Creator accounts, and accounts that act as both reader and creator.
Readers may browse projects, rate projects, leave comments, greenlight projects, follow creators, follow projects, and indicate whether they would back a project.
Creators may submit comic projects, upload images, add project details, view feedback, review project analytics, and receive certain information from readers who intentionally express backing interest.
Comic Launch Lab may add, remove, restrict, or change account features at any time.
2. Age Requirement
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you should use Comic Launch Lab only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
Some projects may be marked as 14+, 17+, 18+, Mature, Adult, or NSFW. You are responsible for using the site in a way that is appropriate for your age and local laws.
Comic Launch Lab is not intended for children under 13.
3. Email Sharing When You Click “I Would Back”
Comic Launch Lab includes features that allow readers to express interest in backing a project. If you click an option such as:
- ·"I Would Back"
- ·"Yes, physical copy"
- ·"Yes, digital copy"
- ·"Notify me if this launches"
- ·Any similar backing-interest button
you understand and agree that Comic Launch Lab may share your email address with the creator of that specific project. This allows creators to contact interested readers about that specific project, including launch announcements, campaign updates, mailing list invitations, or related project news.
Readers should only click “I Would Back” or similar buttons if they are comfortable with their email address being shared with that project creator.
Comic Launch Lab may log when a user clicked a backing-interest button and which project the user clicked it on.
4. Creator Responsibility for Email Use
Creators who receive reader email addresses through Comic Launch Lab are responsible for using those email addresses respectfully and lawfully. Creators may only use shared email addresses for reasonable communication related to the project the reader expressed interest in.
Creators agree that they will not:
- ·Spam readers
- ·Sell, rent, or trade reader emails
- ·Publicly post reader emails
- ·Share reader emails with unrelated third parties
- ·Use reader emails for unrelated promotions
- ·Add users to unrelated mailing lists without proper consent
- ·Harass, pressure, or repeatedly contact readers
- ·Use email addresses outside the reasonable purpose of project-related launch communication
Comic Launch Lab may suspend or remove creators who misuse reader contact information. Creators are encouraged to provide an unsubscribe option or clear way for readers to stop receiving communication.
5. Project Submission Rules
Creators may submit comic projects for reader feedback and launch testing. A project submission may include title, genre, sub-genre, audience rating, cover image, sample pages, sequential pages, pitch, description, funding goal, campaign link, video link, production progress, and creator profile information.
Creators are encouraged to upload as many sequential comic pages as possible. Sequential pages help readers judge pacing, storytelling, panel flow, lettering, art consistency, and whether the comic feels ready for launch.
Creators are responsible for making sure all submitted project information is accurate and not misleading.
6. No Funding Guarantee
Comic Launch Lab does not guarantee that any project will be funded, backed, published, promoted, or successful. Ratings, comments, greenlights, backing interest, analytics, and launch readiness indicators are feedback tools only.
A high score, positive comments, or strong backing interest does not guarantee crowdfunding success. A low score, negative feedback, or low backing interest does not mean a creator should give up.
Creators are responsible for making their own decisions about whether, when, and how to launch a campaign.
7. Constructive Criticism Policy
Comic Launch Lab is built around constructive criticism. Readers may give honest feedback, including critical feedback, but must focus on the project rather than attacking the creator.
Allowed feedback includes comments about art quality, writing clarity, pacing, pitch strength, campaign readiness, audience fit, and suggestions for improvement.
Not allowed:
- ·Personal attacks, harassment, or threats
- ·Hate speech or bullying
- ·Targeted insults or doxxing
- ·Repeated bad-faith comments
- ·Comments intended only to discourage or humiliate a creator
- ·Attacks based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, or other protected characteristics
Comic Launch Lab may remove comments that violate this policy.
8. Creator Ownership and Rights
Creators keep ownership of the projects, artwork, writing, characters, logos, and materials they submit, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
By uploading content to Comic Launch Lab, creators grant Comic Launch Lab a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, host, store, resize, reproduce, and show that content on the site for the purpose of operating the platform, promoting the project page, displaying project cards, and allowing readers to interact with the project.
This license does not transfer ownership of the creator's work to Comic Launch Lab. Creators are responsible for making sure they have the rights to upload everything they submit.
9. Copyrighted Material Policy
Creators may only upload content they own, created, licensed, commissioned, or have permission to use. Creators may not upload:
- ·Stolen artwork or comic pages
- ·Unauthorized fan art presented as an original project
- ·Copyrighted characters they do not have rights to use
- ·Logos, trademarks, or brand materials without permission
- ·Images copied or traced from other artists without permission
- ·Images generated from or based on another artist's work without permission
- ·Any material that violates another person's intellectual property rights
Comic Launch Lab may remove content that appears to infringe copyright, trademark, publicity rights, privacy rights, or other intellectual property rights. Repeat infringers may have their accounts suspended or terminated.
10. Fan Art, Parody, and Existing Characters
Comic Launch Lab is intended mainly for original comic projects. Fan art, parody, tribute work, or projects based on existing characters may create legal risk.
If a creator uploads work based on another company's characters, franchises, brands, or intellectual property, the creator is responsible for having the legal right to do so. Comic Launch Lab may remove projects that appear to use unauthorized copyrighted characters, trademarked brands, or protected material.
11. No AI-Generated Visual Artwork
Comic Launch Lab does not allow creators to upload AI-generated visual artwork. Creators may not upload, submit, display, or promote comic projects that use AI-generated images as part of the project presentation. This includes, but is not limited to:
- ·AI-generated cover art or interior comic pages
- ·AI-generated character designs or backgrounds
- ·AI-generated concept art or promotional images
- ·AI-generated campaign graphics or avatars representing the project
- ·AI-generated mockups, splash pages, pinups, or reward images
- ·AI-generated logos or title treatments used as project artwork
For the purpose of this policy, “AI-generated visual artwork” means images created in whole or in substantial part by generative AI tools, image generators, diffusion models, text-to-image tools, image-to-image tools, AI art models, or similar systems.
Comic Launch Lab is intended to support human comic creators. Projects submitted to the site should represent human-made visual work.
12. Allowed Human-Made Digital Tools
Comic Launch Lab allows normal digital art and production tools, including Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, Illustrator, InDesign, Affinity tools, lettering software, coloring tools, digital brushes, filters, texture overlays, 3D reference tools, photo reference, perspective tools, layout tools, and prepress tools.
These tools are allowed as long as the final visual artwork is created by human artists and the creator has the legal right to use the material. Using digital tools does not make artwork AI-generated.
13. AI Writing, Editing, and Non-Visual Assistance
Comic Launch Lab's no-AI rule applies specifically to visual artwork uploaded or displayed as part of a comic project. Creators may use spelling tools, grammar tools, formatting tools, brainstorming tools, or writing assistance tools, unless Comic Launch Lab later chooses to restrict these uses.
However, creators may not misrepresent authorship or submit copied, plagiarized, or unauthorized writing. If a creator uses AI assistance for substantial writing, pitch drafting, dialogue generation, campaign copy, or other non-visual project materials, Comic Launch Lab may require disclosure.
14. AI Misrepresentation
Creators may not falsely claim that AI-generated visual artwork is human-made. Creators may not upload AI-generated visual work and describe it as hand-drawn, traditionally illustrated, digitally painted, or created by a human artist if that is not true.
Creators may not use AI-generated artwork to imitate, copy, or misrepresent the style or identity of another artist, or claim another artist created it.
Comic Launch Lab may remove projects, images, or accounts if uploaded artwork appears to be AI-generated, and may request process images, thumbnails, sketches, layered files, artist credits, or other proof that submitted artwork is human-made.
15. Human Artist Credit
Creators should credit the human artists, writers, colorists, letterers, designers, editors, and other creative contributors involved in a project. If a creator commissioned artwork, they must have permission to upload and display it.
If multiple people worked on a project, the creator submitting the project is responsible for making sure the team has agreed to the submission. Comic Launch Lab may remove projects if there is a dispute over ownership, credit, permission, or contributor rights.
16. Prohibited Content
Users may not upload, post, promote, or link to content that includes:
- ·Illegal content
- ·Sexual content involving minors or characters presented as minors
- ·Non-consensual sexual content or revenge pornography
- ·Real-world threats or terrorist/extremist recruitment material
- ·Instructions for serious violence or illegal weapons activity
- ·Doxxing or private personal information
- ·Malware, phishing, scams, or fraud
- ·Content that encourages self-harm
- ·Content that targets people based on protected characteristics
- ·Content that attempts to exploit, groom, blackmail, or coerce another person
Comic Launch Lab may remove prohibited content and suspend accounts without notice.
17. Adult, Mature, and NSFW Content
Comic Launch Lab may allow projects to be marked by audience rating, including All Ages, 14+, 17+, 18+, and NSFW. Creators must accurately label their projects.
NSFW content may be hidden, filtered, restricted, age-gated, or removed at Comic Launch Lab's discretion. Creators may not use misleading ratings to expose users to adult or graphic content without warning. Comic Launch Lab may prohibit some adult or NSFW content even if it is labeled.
18. Ratings, Greenlights, and Backing Interest
These signals are opinions from users and do not represent guarantees, endorsements, financial advice, investment advice, or promises of campaign success.
A “Would Back” vote means a reader has expressed personal interest in supporting the project, but it is not a binding pledge, purchase, preorder, or investment. Readers may change their opinions over time.
Creators may not manipulate ratings, create fake accounts, buy fake votes, or pressure users into positive feedback.
19. No Fake Engagement
Users may not manipulate site activity. Prohibited activity includes fake accounts, vote manipulation, review trading rings, paid fake comments, automated voting, bot activity, harassing users for negative feedback, posting misleading project data, pretending to be another creator or reader, and coordinated attempts to inflate or damage a project's score.
Comic Launch Lab may remove suspicious activity, adjust scores, hide projects, or suspend accounts.
20. Project Analytics
Comic Launch Lab may collect project analytics including project views, approximate read time, clicks, ratings, comments, greenlights, follows, backing interest, and conversion rates. Creators may be shown analytics for their own projects.
Analytics are estimates and may not be perfectly accurate. Comic Launch Lab does not guarantee that analytics will predict campaign performance.
21. Launch Readiness Indicators
Comic Launch Lab may display launch readiness indicators, scores, badges, rankings, or similar signals. These indicators are based on available reader activity and site data.
Launch readiness indicators are not guarantees of success. They should be used as feedback tools, not final decisions. Comic Launch Lab may change how scores and indicators are calculated at any time.
22. User Profiles and Public Activity
Comic Launch Lab may display public profile information including display name, avatar, bio, account type, public projects, projects reviewed, projects greenlit, projects followed, badges or activity stats, follower counts, and following counts.
Users should not include sensitive personal information in public profile fields. Comic Launch Lab may remove profile content that violates platform rules.
23. Privacy and Personal Information
Comic Launch Lab may collect information such as email address, display name, avatar, bio, account type, login information, project submissions, comments, ratings, greenlights, follow activity, backing-interest activity, analytics data, and device/browser information necessary to operate the site.
Comic Launch Lab uses this information to operate the platform, provide accounts, display projects, show feedback, improve the site, prevent abuse, and allow creators to contact users who intentionally express backing interest.
Comic Launch Lab does not sell user email addresses. Creators who receive email addresses through backing-interest features may only use them for the project-related purpose described in this policy.
24. Security
Comic Launch Lab uses third-party services for hosting, authentication, database, storage, email, analytics, or payments. Users are responsible for keeping their account login information secure and should not share passwords.
Comic Launch Lab may suspend accounts that appear compromised, abusive, fraudulent, or harmful. No website can guarantee perfect security.
25. Payments and Future Paid Features
Comic Launch Lab may later offer paid features such as featured project placement, Creator Pro accounts, advanced analytics, launch reports, promotional tools, subscriptions, or advertising and sponsorship placements.
If payments are added, Comic Launch Lab will use a third-party payment processor and will not directly store credit card numbers. Payment terms may be added separately.
26. Takedowns and Infringement Claims
If you believe a project or user content infringes your copyright, trademark, publicity rights, privacy rights, or other rights, contact Comic Launch Lab at:
captain@truenorthcomic.com
Please include your name and contact information, a description of the work you believe was infringed, a link to the allegedly infringing content, a statement that you believe the use is unauthorized, and any supporting documentation.
Comic Launch Lab may remove or restrict content while reviewing a claim, and may restore content if a claim appears mistaken, abusive, incomplete, or legally insufficient.
27. Account Suspension and Content Removal
Comic Launch Lab may remove content, hide projects, restrict features, suspend accounts, or terminate accounts if a user violates this policy or creates risk for the platform or community. Reasons may include:
- ·Copyright infringement or uploading AI-generated visual artwork
- ·Misrepresenting AI-generated artwork as human-made
- ·Harassment, spam, or fake engagement
- ·Misuse of reader email addresses
- ·Uploading prohibited content

Comic Launch Lab may make these decisions at its discretion.

Comic Launch Lab is a platform for feedback and discovery, not a publisher, agent, lawyer, campaign manager, payment processor, or guarantor of success.
